Jordan Gutteridge was born and raised in County Durham, England, where a family heritage in carpentry and engineering sparked an early passion for hands-on craftsmanship. As a teenager, he transformed the family garage into a workshop, honing his skills with tools handed down through generations.
After completing a carpentry and joinery course at his local college—where he represented the school in national competitions—Jordan was introduced to the world of pipe organ building. He began a four-year apprenticeship with the renowned Harrison & Harrison, gaining experience in all facets of the trade, from leatherwork and metalwork to tuning and installation. His work contributed to major projects at iconic venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Temple Church, and Durham Cathedral.
In 2015, Jordan moved to Australia for a one-year placement with Peter D.G. Jewkes Pipe Organ Builders in Sydney. Immersed in a smaller, hands-on team, he quickly found a home in both the country and its organ-building community. After securing permanent residency and later citizenship, he continued with the Jewkes firm for a decade, working on significant instruments including those at Sydney Town Hall, St James' King Street, and Parramatta Cathedral.
In 2025, Jordan founded Gutteridge Pipe Organs, bringing nearly 15 years of experience to the restoration, maintenance, and care of pipe organs across New South Wales and beyond. The company is committed to craftsmanship, integrity, and the enduring reliability of the instruments it serves.
